Black PVC Pipe, Clear Nylon String, Ultrasonic Welder, Plastic Tubing, Polyethylene Flat Tube Roll, Oyster Mushrooms

2.5 ft diameter

This is a bio-art installation that explores the cycle of life and death through fairy rings and mushroom imagery. The Fairy ring imagery is evoked through the black PVC pipe that the bags with mushrooms hang from. In this piece, mushrooms represent life, and the plastic bags that bear the mushroom are body bags representing death. viewers were encouraged to stand inside the ring to communicate how ephemeral and fleeting life is. The activation of the piece by the viewer completes the cycle of life and death.
